The history & conservation of the Garden at Stourhead
10:30am - 3:45pm
Host: Alan Power
Stourhead is often referred to as the most beautiful and magical of all the great landscape gardens created in the eighteenth century.
Alan, Garden historian, TV presenter and Garden and Estate Manager at Stourhead will take us back to the 1740s introducing the personalities who shaped Stourhead, with its lakes, grottoes, temples, magnificient trees and shrubs before discussing and comparing the modern day challenges of conserving historic landscapes and plant collections at Stourhead, Hidcote Manor and Mount Stewart.
Plants! They just don't read the books
